
The production team of Netflix's original variety show 'Solo Hell 5' has directly addressed the rumors surrounding participant Lee Seong-hoon being the grandson of former President Lee Myung-bak.
Directors Kim Jae-won, Kim Jung-hyun, and Park Soo-ji, who directed 'Solo Hell 5', clarified the recent bloodline rumors about Lee Seong-hoon during a wrap-up interview held in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 13th.
Lee Seong-hoon, who became the final couple with Choi Mi-na this season, drew attention immediately after the broadcast for his striking resemblance in appearance and voice tone to the former president. This led some netizens to raise suspicions that he might be the hidden grandson of the former president, garnering significant interest.
In response, the production team revealed, "In fact, we also had doubts during filming because his appearance and voice were so similar that we thought, 'What if?'" They continued, "After confirming directly with Lee Seong-hoon, we received the answer that he is not even a distant relative, let alone a grandson," adding, "He himself is quite embarrassed by these rumors."
Meanwhile, Lee Seong-hoon is an elite who graduated from UC Berkeley in the United States and is currently working as a quant trader on Wall Street in New York. The production team also noted regarding his impressive background, "It's just that some participants' qualifications stood out, but the primary criteria for casting were strictly based on appearance," which caught attention.
'Solo Hell 5' achieved a remarkable finish on the 10th, ranking second globally in the non-English show category on Netflix.
