"I couldn't be reached," raising concerns, 'Wrestling Legend' Shim Kwon-ho has belatedly confessed to battling liver cancer.
Shim Kwon-ho, a living legend of South Korean wrestling, has been diagnosed with early stage liver cancer. The reason for his sudden disappearance and the rumors of him going missing were due to a rapid decline in his health, which has led to an outpouring of support from fans.
On the 2nd, the TV Chosun entertainment program 'Lover of Joseon' revealed Shim Kwon-ho's process of overcoming his illness. Initially, Shim Kwon-ho was supposed to start new activities like blind dates at the suggestion of his colleague Shim Hyun-seop, but he suddenly cut off contact with the production team and went into hiding, causing concern.
The appearance of Shim Kwon-ho, whom the production team found after much searching, was somewhat shocking. He had lost weight and expressed, "When I'm alone, the overwhelming loneliness drives me to drink," adding, "Once I start drinking, recovery doesn't go well," sharing his difficult situation. After noticing his poor complexion, the production team persuaded him to visit the hospital, where he was diagnosed with cirrhosis and advised that further tests were necessary.
Shim Kwon-ho once refused to undergo tests due to fear of his illness being revealed and left the hospital. However, thanks to the persistent persuasion and heartfelt support from colleagues like Shim Hyun-seop and Lim Jae-wook, he found the courage to proceed, and fortunately, he was discovered at an early stage of liver cancer and successfully underwent surgery.
After surgery, Shim Kwon-ho returned with a bright appearance and stated in a video message, "I have successfully dealt with liver cancer. Thanks to the support of many people, the results were good," expressing his determination to greet everyone with a healthy appearance in the future.
Meanwhile, Shim Kwon-ho is a world-renowned wrestling hero who achieved Grand Slams in two different weight classes at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Following the news of the 'little giant' overcoming a serious illness and rising again, netizens have sent encouragement, saying, "I'm so relieved the surgery went well," and "I support a healthy second life for you."
