Blackpink’s Jennie showed off her professionalism by successfully completing her performance on the stage of Japan’s large-scale music festival “Summer Sonic 2026,” overcoming a sudden bout of trouble. After appearing at the Tokyo show on the 14th, Jennie also made consecutive appearances at the Osaka show on the 16th, captivating large-scale in-person audiences as a solo artist.
However, once on-site footage from the Osaka performance day was released, it was later revealed that Jennie had experienced severe discomfort. In video shot at the venue, Jennie is seen turning back onstage to adjust and re-tie her outfit, and repeatedly sending signals toward staff to alert them to a malfunction with her microphone equipment. It was a critical situation in which outfit issues and an audio equipment problem occurred at the same time.
Even under tough conditions, Jennie kept her emotions in check and carried out the final stage route and performance perfectly to the end. At one point, she was captured trembling her hands and clenching her lips to hold back tears, but soon she regained her center as an artist and shared the moment with fans. When the tears she had been holding back as she delivered her final words of thanks to the audience finally spilled, cheers and shouts of support for Jennie rang out across the venue.
Beware of deepfakes and edited video distribution… Avoid spread without fact-checking needed
Separately, online, people are suffering from “cold” amid the spread of a fake edited video featuring Jennie that has been circulated in connection with the Tokyo performance on the 14th. A video that appears to show part of her body exposed during the performance has been shared through online communities, but it is based on a source that has not been officially confirmed.
Experts say there is a high possibility it is a deepfake video created using precise editing or AI manipulation techniques. As distribution based on unconfirmed original material can amount to a serious violation of someone’s honor, voices are growing calling for people to refrain from jumping to conclusions and sharing it rashly.
