The group BLACKPINK has reaffirmed its unique status in the global pop market by entering the U.S. Billboard main single chart 'Hot 100' with their new song 'GO'.
According to the latest chart released by Billboard on the 9th (local time), BLACKPINK's title track 'GO' from their third mini-album 'DEADLINE' recorded 63rd place on the 'Hot 100' chart. With this, BLACKPINK achieved their 11th entry into the 'Hot 100', setting a new record for the most entries by a K-Pop female artist.
The performance on the main album chart, 'Billboard 200', is also overwhelming. The mini-album 'DEADLINE' landed at 8th place on that chart, marking BLACKPINK's 5th album to enter the 'Billboard 200'.
This global phenomenon is also continuing in the UK. On the UK Official Chart, known as one of the two major pop charts in the world, the new song 'GO' ranked 44th in the singles top 100, while the album 'DEADLINE' secured 11th place in the album top 100. This also sets a record for the most chart entries by a K-Pop female artist.
Notably, despite being released after a long hiatus of about 3 years and 5 months, this album has garnered explosive responses. According to the domestic album sales tracking site Hanteo Chart, it sold over 1.77 million copies in the first week of release, setting a new first-week sales record for K-Pop girl groups.
As BLACKPINK makes a glamorous return, proving the long wait, they are dominating major music charts worldwide, including the two major charts in the English-speaking world, and the global music industry is focused on the new history they will write.
