Lee Hee-seung of the group ENHYPEN is leaving the team after 5 years since debut to embark on a solo career.
The agency Belift Lab announced Lee Hee-seung's departure from the team and the restructuring of ENHYPEN into a 6-member system through an official statement. The agency stated, "After a long period of in-depth discussions regarding Lee Hee-seung's envisioned future and the team's direction, we ultimately decided to respect his firm musical aspirations." Accordingly, ENHYPEN, which has received overwhelming support from its global fandom since its debut in 2020, will continue its activities as a 6-member group excluding Lee Hee-seung.
The agency further expressed, "As this decision was made after careful consideration over a long time, we hope fans will support Lee Hee-seung's new beginning with an open heart," and apologized for delivering this sudden news to fans. They reiterated that this decision was the best choice for the growth of both the artist and the group.
Lee Hee-seung also conveyed heartfelt greetings to fans through a handwritten letter. He expressed, "The past 6 years have been invaluable times that cannot be fully expressed in words," and thanked the members and fans for helping him get one step closer to his dream.
Regarding the background of his decision to leave, he revealed a strong desire to be a solo artist. Lee Hee-seung stated, "I had many results I wanted to show fans while working on personal music projects, but I couldn't prioritize my personal ambitions within the team."
