Singer-songwriter Hanloro has firmly established himself as a leading artist by winning the prestigious 'Artist of the Year' award at the 23rd Korean Popular Music Awards (hereafter HanDaeum). This award has brought renewed attention to his special connection with last year's winner, Lee Seung-yoon, providing even more dramatic emotion to music fans.

Hanloro was selected as Artist of the Year through his EP album 'Grapefruit Apricot Club' at the awards ceremony held recently at Musinsa Garage in Mapo-gu, Seoul. By reaching the highest position in HanDaeum, which prioritizes musical achievement, he has officially recognized the significant influence he had on the Korean popular music scene over the past year.
Immediately after receiving the award, Hanloro expressed his overwhelming feelings, saying, "Music has never been easy, but thanks to the love of my family, friends, and fans, I could stand here." He added, "This album was made with all my heart, hoping that the people I love can live without despair," leaving a deep resonance at the scene.

On this day, the performance of singer Lee Seung-yoon also stood out. Lee Seung-yoon won the Best Rock Song category with his reinterpretation of his song 'Canon' as 'Punk Canon'. Following his achievement of three awards last year, he lifted the trophy for the second consecutive year and overwhelmed the audience with his outstanding live performance of 'Waterfall' during the congratulatory stage.
Above all, the 'cinematic narrative' of the two artists has become a hot topic. Last year, while sharing concerns on a YouTube channel without knowing each other's identities, when Hanloro mentioned his experience of being nominated for HanDaeum, Lee Seung-yoon playfully responded with, "I only experienced envy and jealousy."
Afterward, Lee Seung-yoon achieved three awards, and this year, Hanloro took over the baton to become 'Artist of the Year', completing a perfect musical narrative between the two. The HanDaeum selection committee also praised Hanloro, stating, "A realist who faces the wounds hidden beneath the glamorous facade of youth," and called him "a trailer announcing the arrival of a great rock star."
The awards received by the two, proving the musical lineage connecting generations, remain a symbol of the healthy growth of the Korean band and indie scene. With Hanloro singing heartfelt comfort and Lee Seung-yoon dominating the stage with explosive energy, public expectations are focused on the future endeavors of these two 'rock stars'.
