"From girls to adults." The group IVE has proven their matured musical capabilities through their first regular album in three years. IVE opened the door to their activities with a showcase commemorating the release of their regular 2nd album 'Revive+' (REVIVE+) on the 23rd at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
The album title means 'reignite.' Leader Ahn Yujin expressed her ambition to spread the flame ignited by the name IVE further and wider. Especially since all members have become adults this year, they focused on capturing diverse and profound charms that go beyond the existing teen crush.
The biggest change is the expansion of the worldview. IVE, which has sung about confidence in 'me,' now turns their gaze to 'us,' discussing solidarity and relationships. The pre-released song 'Bang Bang,' in which Jang Wonyoung participated in the lyrics, powerfully expresses a subjective attitude that is not swayed by the eyes of others with an EDM sound.
The title track 'Black Hole' is a shuffle-based song with a cinematic atmosphere, boasting movie-like sounds and strong addictiveness. The stage performance is also overwhelming. The use of a long table in the production and the mega crew choreography presents a scale rarely seen in existing girl group stages, showcasing their prowess as 'performance queens.'
As an attempt to broaden their musical spectrum, solo tracks from all members are included. A total of 12 songs are featured, including Jang Wonyoung's '8', Gaeul's 'Odd', Lee Seo's 'Super Icy', Liz's 'Unreal', Rei's 'In Your Heart', and Ahn Yujin's 'Force'. Gaeul expressed her anticipation, saying, "This is a song prepared to repay the love of our fans."
Although IVE holds the remarkable record of seven consecutive million sellers, this time they emphasized 'proof' over numbers. Ahn Yujin stressed, "I hope this album proves our skills rather than comparing ourselves to others," while Jang Wonyoung hinted at a deep connection with their fandom, DIVE.
