"It's our first meeting, but you keep interrupting me."
Former baseball player O Seung-hwan, known as 'Stone Buddha', revealed his discomfort with broadcaster Yang Sang-guk's repeated interruptions during the talk. It was a tension born from the excessive eagerness of a variety show novice.
On the March 4th episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star', O Seung-hwan, Lee Cheol-min, Jo Hyun-a, and Yang Sang-guk appeared as guests. O Seung-hwan, who recently transformed into a baseball commentator and started a second life, drew attention by sharing his current status of returning to the mindset of a rookie.
O Seung-hwan mentioned the glory of winning both Rookie of the Year and MVP in 2005, expressing his serious ambition to return to that initial mindset and achieve results in the commentary field. However, while O Seung-hwan was continuing his story, Yang Sang-guk suddenly interrupted, breaking the flow.
Yang Sang-guk poured cold water on the conversation by saying, "Rookies can do well and then fall into despair," and made a clumsy joke about O Seung-hwan's accurate game predictions being called 'shaman commentary', which chilled the atmosphere.
In response, O Seung-hwan, with a serious expression, directly expressed his displeasure, saying, "It's our first meeting today, but you keep interrupting me." He added, "I greeted you first," expressing his disappointment at the continued interruptions despite his politeness, prompting a flustered Yang Sang-guk to immediately apologize and bow his head.
MC Kim Gu-ra, who was watching, teased Yang Sang-guk, saying, "Why did you do that when you’ll just back down in the end?" which turned the tense situation into a sea of laughter. The clash between the seriousness typical of athletes and the eagerness for entertainment led to this incident, which has become a hot topic among viewers right after the broadcast.
