"I don't care if there's chaos at the company."
Jungkook of the group BTS made bold statements towards his agency HYBE during a late-night drinking live broadcast, revealing his unfiltered 'bare face' and causing a stir. It was a 90-minute session that showed not the polished idol image, but the struggles and deviations of the human Jeon Jungkook without any filters.
Jungkook started the live broadcast around 3:42 AM on the 26th, drinking with friends and interacting with fans. The core of the broadcast was 'uncontrolled freedom.' He defined himself as "someone who loves singing and the stage and wants to be honest," gradually sharing stories he had kept hidden.
The most eye-catching part was his mention of smoking and the agency. Jungkook revealed, "I’m thirty now and I really worked hard to quit smoking," confessing his past smoking habits. He added, "The moment I say this, the company will go crazy," but expressed his frustration with the agency's management system, saying, "I don’t know what to be careful about during the live, I just want to be comfortable."
As he became more intoxicated, Jungkook's comments became bolder. He stated, "I want to live as I please. I don’t want to care about the company, I want to speak freely," expressing the stress he currently feels without holding back. In particular, he left a thought-provoking statement, saying, "How many people in the world can be honest?" and "If it weren't for the company, I would have said everything," igniting rumors of conflict with the agency among fans.
Controversy over his broadcasting attitude was also anticipated. Jungkook displayed an informal demeanor, using profanity and finger gestures towards a friend present, and firmly drew the line with fans who expressed concern about ending the broadcast, saying, "Please don’t tell me what to do." This is interpreted as an explosion of the pressure towards a perfect stage and fatigue from the 'life on display.'
Meanwhile, BTS, to which Jungkook belongs, is set to make a comeback with their 5th studio album 'Arirang' on March 20. Right after the comeback, on the 21st, they will hold a free comeback live at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, which will be broadcast live worldwide through Netflix. It remains to be seen how Jungkook's 'precarious deviation' that erupted just before the comeback will affect this album's activities.
