“Jae-beol X Detective,” which has led SBS’s signature “satisfying” lineup, returns with a bang for Season 2 at 9:50 p.m. on the 7th. Armed with even flashier visuals and a freshly revamped character lineup, “Jae-beol X Detective 2” is set on taking the lead in the weekend drama market.
From the first episode, the show’s lead, Jin Soo (played by Ahn Bo-hyun), gets caught up in a terrorist incident that defies prediction. While tracking an anonymous tip at the Han-su Baek Department Store, he ends up accidentally touching a homemade bomb himself—only to be targeted by the bomber and effectively become a “human time bomb.”
At that moment, the drama depicts a hair-trigger reunion with the anti-terror team’s team leader, Joo Hye-ra (played by Jeong Eun-chae). The two who once met in police academy days—as a “devil instructor” and a reckless chaebol detective—unleash a tense battle of nerves and coordinated investigation at the scene of the crisis, making their chemistry a key point to watch.
Season 2 on a Bigger Scale… Faceoff of MBC’s “Married Woman Killer” and a Weekend Drama Pride Matchup
For this Season 2, the production team plans to maximize the thrill of a crime investigation drama through an even more advanced case scale and a spectacle-driven storyline. The team said, “We have episodes waiting that can be differentiated only by the unique premise of a chaebol detective,” adding that the investigation drama has been reborn with something even newer.
Above all, this season brings heightened tension with the arrival of new leading lady Jeong Eun-chae and actor Yoo Seung-ho appearing as a new villain. The drama is back with characters that are even more formidable than two years ago.
“Jae-beol X Detective 2,” launching anew, will go head-to-head in a fierce ratings battle against MBC’s new drama “Married Woman Killer.” With SBS’s first-season breakout as a leading performer in 2026, viewers are watching closely to see what kind of “satisfying” winds the show will bring to the home viewing audience.
