Jennie of the global K-pop girl group Blackpink turned heads after setting out clear standards for texting etiquette between romantic partners. Appearing on Jennie in Cosmopolitan’s recently released YouTube content, a blind date segment, Jennie spoke candidly about her views on dating alongside editor in chief Wyla Benett.
During the program, Jennie made it clear that she strongly rejects the situation where she continues her social media activity but does not reply to her partner’s messages for several hours. Jennie pointed to such behavior as an obvious red flag, saying it signals problems in the relationship.
She said it was the wrong attitude to save time for updating one’s SNS status but delay replying to a text, adding that women deserve to receive enough respect and love throughout the dating process.
Jennie’s dating rules: Respect the other person’s time, but be firm about rude behavior
Jennie also revealed her own rules about how to handle contacting. When asked whether she sends another text when she doesn’t get a reply, she answered that she is not the type to text first in the first place, filling the studio with laughter.
Sending a text twice in a row is an extremely big move for her, she said, adding that it rarely happens unless it is a real emergency. She said she would respect the other person’s time if their reply is delayed due to personal circumstances, but she reiterated that she cannot accept ignoring the messages and only continuing with social media activity.
With her confident yet high self-esteem approach to dating, many online users and viewers are showing deep empathy and sending strong reactions.
