Chef Lim Seong-geun, who gained attention for his appearance on Netflix 'Black and White Chef 2', officially apologized while detailing his past criminal record. Lim acknowledged a total of 6 offenses, which is more than previously reported, and announced a suspension of his broadcasting activities.
In a press interview held on the 21st, Lim revealed that he has exactly 6 offenses, including drunk driving. According to his explanation, there are 4 instances of being caught for drunk driving, 1 instance of being caught riding a motorcycle without a license, and 1 instance of receiving a fine for mutual assault that occurred during a dispute.
Regarding the discrepancy in the initially reported number of drunk driving incidents, he explained, "I made a mistake by relying on my memory without being able to clearly recall events from 30 years ago." He emphasized that he did not intentionally conceal the truth or try to deceive anyone.
He also addressed suspicions that his prior confession on YouTube before the controversy was a form of 'preemptive strike'. Lim stated, "I was very afraid of the sudden surge of public interest," explaining the background of his confession. He acknowledged that drunk driving itself is a clear wrongdoing, regardless of the number of incidents, and bowed his head again.
Lim expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love he has received, stating that he will suspend all broadcasting activities for the time being. He plans to focus on his main business in the food industry and take time to reflect on his mistakes.
Recently, as the success of 'Black and White Chef 2' has brought the past actions of its cast members under scrutiny, criticism of the broadcasting industry's cast verification system is expected to rise further.
