Broadcaster Jang Yoon-jung recently revealed the shocking voice phishing victimization her mother experienced, evoking sympathy. It was an incident that not only resulted in the complete withdrawal of money from her account but also left a serious mental shock.
On the 4th, KBS 1TV's 'Let's Live Together with Hwang Shin-hye' featured the country's first profiler Kwon Il-yong, who discussed crime prevention. On this day, Jang Yoon-jung empathized with the increasingly cunning methods of crime and shared a real case of victimization experienced by her family.
Jang Yoon-jung stated, "Recently, all the money in my mother's account disappeared due to voice phishing." She expressed her feelings at that time, saying, "I always thought it was someone else's problem, but when it actually happened to my family, the situation was completely different."
The method of the crime was a typical approach impersonating a child, claiming that "the mobile phone is broken." However, coincidentally, at that time, Jang Yoon-jung's brother's mobile phone was actually broken, so her mother had no choice but to trust the contact from the perpetrator without any suspicion.
By the time her mother sensed something was wrong and tried to call, the mobile phone had already become unresponsive. Fortunately, she reported it to the police through the emergency contact function, and thanks to the police's quick and kind response, they were able to get in touch with Jang Yoon-jung and take follow-up measures.
In this regard, profiler Kwon Il-yong pointed out, "By 2025, the amount of damage from voice phishing is expected to exceed 1 trillion won," emphasizing, "Unlike in the past, this is a serious crime that can result in losing all your assets, so you should seek police assistance immediately in any situation."
This broadcast, which highlighted the dangers of crime deeply infiltrating daily life, once again reinforced the importance of preventing and responding to voice phishing through real victim cases.
