K-Pop history has been rewritten. The OST 'Golden' from the animated series 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has lifted the trophy at the Grammy Awards, the world's most prestigious music awards.
On the 1st (local time), 'Golden' won the 'Best Song for Visual Media' category at the pre-event of the 68th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, USA. This award is given to the song's composers and producers, and Korean producers who participated in the song's production, including EJAE, Teddy, 24, and Ideyo, have received this honor. This is the first achievement for a K-Pop-based creative team at the Grammys.
The reactions from local media in the U.S. are also enthusiastic. The AP reported urgently, "First Grammy win for a K-Pop artist," while the New York Times (NYT) praised it as "a historic milestone that quenches the long thirst for K-Pop as a global genre." In particular, the NYT mentioned that 'Golden' is also nominated for the main award, 'Song of the Year', expressing expectations that a K-Pop song could take the top honor at the awards ceremony.
Entertainment media Variety predicted that this win could lead to a possibility of winning the Best Original Song at the Academy Awards to be held in March. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award went to the team from the movie 'Wicked'.
With the first victory announced at the pre-awards ceremony, the results of major main awards, including 'Song of the Year' where 'Golden' competes with BLACKPINK's 'APT.', will be determined at the upcoming main ceremony.
