Actor Ji Sung makes a dramatic leap into a new role as a former leader of an organization, tearing down huge corruption hidden within apartment complexes across South Korea. The cheerful yet razor-sharp black comedy drama ‘Apt.’ finally lifts the curtain.

“The secret behind the maintenance-fee notice”… A once-in-a-series operation to root out corruption surrounding 17.8 billion won in long-term repair reserve funds

JTBC’s new weekend drama ‘Apt.’ is drawing significant attention even before its broadcast, thanks to a fresh premise that zeroes in on viewers’ everyday lives. Set in apartments where more than half of South Korea’s population lives, the story joyfully unravels a tangled mess of maintenance fees and dark funds that have piled up on an unimaginable scale amid residents’ indifference.

In the drama, Park Hae-gang (played by Ji Sung) is a former boss of Oasis Group who runs for chairman of the residents’ representative meeting in order to seize 17.8 billion won in long-term repair reserve funds lying in an apartment account. While keeping his identity hidden and resolving residents’ grievances, he gradually comes face to face with a massive organized scheme of wrongdoing. The unfolding in which bad guys punish even worse guys to bring about justice is expected to deliver a thrilling catharsis to modern people who have grown suspicious of their monthly maintenance-fee notices.

From Ji Sung to Ha Yoon-kyung and Moon So-ri… A luxury lineup completed by the SLL and Red Nine Pictures production team

Global content studio SLL and Red Nine Pictures co-produced the drama, showcasing its solid level of completion. Director Jo Yong-won’s stylish direction and writer Kim Yoon-young’s dialogue tightly grounded in reality came together to herald the birth of a well-made drama.

The casting of strong, acting-driven performers also stands out. Along with Ha Yoon-kyung (as Kang Ha-ri), a top-tier star who anchors the story and shows an exceptional sense of collaboration, Park Byung-eun (as Lee Chung-won), who brings a heavy, commanding charisma, and Moon So-ri (as Jang Suk-jin), a top-class actor, join the cast to heighten tension. On top of that, a solid lineup of supporting actors, including Kim Won-hae and Baek Hyun-jin, rounds out the ensemble to deliver lively on-screen acting synergy.

A weekly shot at the weekend living-room audience, unveiled globally on OTT platform Netflix at the same time

The blockbuster drama ‘Apt.’ airs every Saturday at 10:40 p.m. and every Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on JTBC. Immediately after the broadcast, it is released sequentially to viewers around the world through the global OTT platform Netflix.

With ‘Apt.’ blending sharp social satire, satisfying action, and tightly knit humanism, public expectations are focused on whether it can write a new box-office legend in the global K-drama market beyond living rooms.
