
Ji Byeong-soo, who was loved nationwide by the nickname Hal-dam-bi through the National Singing Contest, has sadly passed away in October, a fact that has been confirmed late.
According to acquaintances, the late Ji Byeong-soo passed away from old age on October 30 at the National Medical Center. He was 82 years old. He rose to stardom in 2019 after appearing on KBS1's National Singing Contest in Jongno-gu, showcasing lively dance moves and singing to the hit song "Crazy" by singer Son Dam-bi.
At that time, he introduced himself as the stylish man of Jongno, and his commanding presence on stage recorded explosive views online, including on YouTube, creating a huge buzz. He later earned the nickname Hal-dam-bi, meaning "grandfather Son Dam-bi," and enjoyed a second life by appearing on numerous broadcasting programs such as Entertainment Weekly, You Quiz on the Block, and Human Theater.
In addition to his broadcasting activities, he released a new song that encapsulated his life and published an essay titled "Hal-dam-bi, Life is Truly Unpredictable," bringing hope and laughter to many. It is said that he expressed gratitude for becoming a famous person recognized by people, even if just for a moment.
Having raised two adopted sons with great care without getting married, the late Ji Byeong-soo's final journey was conducted as an unclaimed funeral; however, Song Dong-ho, the representative of Seungjin Toy, who acted as his manager during his lifetime, and his adopted sons took care of his last moments. After the funeral on November 15, he is now resting in the columbarium at the Byeokje Municipal Cemetery.
