The sibling duo AKMU has openly shared, without holding back, its two-year journey of relentless growing pains and its success with dieting.
On the 19th, AKMU’s official YouTube channel posted a video showing the process of Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Su-hyun overcoming a slump and finding a new direction for the team. In the video, the two revealed the deep worries Lee Su-hyun had considered even pausing music activities, as well as the quiet support and solid camaraderie Lee Chan-hyuk offered, staying close at her side and serving as an ally. Lee Su-hyun described that time as “a major whirlpool in life,” and said she is now healing from those wounds and becoming stronger through the process.
What especially captured public attention was the behind-the-scenes story of Lee Su-hyun’s weight loss. After gaining buzz for her noticeably slimmer figure, rumors began to spread that she might have been getting “Wegovy,” an obesity treatment. In response, Lee Su-hyun drew a firm line. She said she did not receive any help from Wegovy at all, and that she painstakingly cut out highly stimulating foods she normally enjoyed—like mala tang and tteokbokki—and devoted herself to exercising the right way, expressing her frustration.
Behind these changes was Lee Chan-hyuk’s rigorous training. Lee Chan-hyuk encouraged his sister to work out directly to help her recover her health, and they shed sweat together. During an overseas training camp of about three weeks, carried out with the goal of shooting a music video in January 2026, Lee Su-hyun also pushed through to the end despite the intense training and the cold, taking full responsibility, encouraged by her brother.
Beyond simply losing weight, Lee Su-hyun’s efforts to regain healthy life habits—and Lee Chan-hyuk’s dedication in leading the way—prove how much AKMU has grown, both as artists and as a family. Public support for AKMU’s ability to turn crisis into opportunity continues to pour in.
