The global top group Stray Kids will be looking for viewers with a time-slip entertainment program set in the Joseon Dynasty during the 2026 Seollal holiday.
KBS 2TV will air the special program 'Seolbim Soul Beam Stray Kids: Waking Up in the Joseon Dynasty' on February 16 at 8:10 PM. This program is a fusion entertainment content that captures the chaotic episodes that occur as Stray Kids, who have established themselves as global artists, encounter Korea's unique traditional culture.
Recently, Stray Kids set a remarkable record of being No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for 8 consecutive weeks, selling out stadiums worldwide, drawing attention from both inside and outside the entertainment industry regarding their return to domestic entertainment.
The program's popularity was proven even before recording. More than 10,000 applicants rushed to the public audience, which only invited 400 people, resulting in a fierce competition rate of 25 to 1. Fans of various nationalities participated in traditional hanbok, creating a spectacular scene, and it is said that the members showcased their exceptional love for fans by making eye contact with them despite the grueling 10-hour schedule.
'Seolbim Soul Beam' borrows a cinematic worldview where they time slip to the Joseon Dynasty, drawn by an unknown force amidst a dazzling stage. The members will undertake bizarre missions from 'Joseon masters' played by Lee Soo-geun and Jonathan to return as modern world stars.
The production team has promised relatable content that spans all generations. They plan to reinterpret the signature games of the past national entertainment 'Family Game Center' with a 2026 sensibility, offering nostalgia to the older generation and fresh fun to the MZ generation. The members' immersion in traditional games while dressed comfortably in hanbok is expected to be a holiday gift that transcends borders and generations.
Thanks to their global influence, the response from overseas markets is also enthusiastic. Sales have been confirmed not only in Japan and Taiwan but also in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region, showcasing the power of 'K-entertainment'. The production team expressed confidence, stating, "We have presented the meeting of a global top artist and Korean tradition in the most delightful way."
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's special for Seollal, 'Seolbim Soul Beam', which captures Stray Kids' tumultuous survival story in the Joseon Dynasty, will be broadcast on the 16th at 8:10 PM.
