"Worsening recurrent nosebleed symptoms... Decision for surgery made on medical staff's recommendation"
Actress Cha Joo-young will not participate in the promotional activities for the film 'Sister' during its opening week due to health issues. The cause has been revealed to be prolonged symptoms of nosebleeds.
According to industry sources on the 25th, Cha Joo-young recently underwent ear, nose, and throat surgery and is currently recovering. Her agency explained that Cha Joo-young had been undergoing detailed examinations and treatments for frequent nosebleeds, but as her condition did not improve, she was compelled to decide on surgery based on the opinion of specialized medical staff.
The surgery has been successfully completed; however, a diagnosis was made that absolute rest is critically needed immediately afterward. Accordingly, Cha Joo-young plans to refrain from strenuous official schedules for the time being and focus solely on treatment and recovery.
Due to this surgery, the early promotional race for the film 'Sister,' which is set to be released on the 28th, has been halted. As the lead actress, Cha Joo-young had a strong attachment to the project, and it has been reported that she expressed deep regret over the missed opportunity to meet with the audience, such as during stage greetings.
Meanwhile, the film 'Sister' is a kidnapping thriller that depicts the suffocating truth between Hae-ran (played by Jung Ji-so), who kidnaps her sister for ransom, and Tae-soo (played by Lee Soo-hyuk), along with the hostage So-jin (played by Cha Joo-young). Cha Joo-young plans to return and resume her activities as soon as she recovers her health.
