The group BTS is attracting global attention as they are planning a mega performance in the area of Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung, symbols of Seoul, ahead of their comeback in March.
According to industry sources on the 19th, their agency HYBE has recently applied for permission to use the locations around Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung at the end of March from the Cultural Heritage Administration. This project is planned as a 'K-Heritage and K-Pop Fusion Performance', and the requested locations include major national heritage sites such as Gyeongbokgung's Geunjeongjeon, Heungnyemun, Gwanghwamun Square, and Sungnyemun.
The Cultural Heritage Committee of the Cultural Heritage Administration is scheduled to review the permission for the use of these locations in a meeting on the 20th. HYBE stated, "We are currently in discussions regarding the performance in the Gwanghwamun area," and added, "We will make an official announcement as soon as specific details are confirmed."
In particular, this performance is significant as it serves as the comeback stage for the 5th studio album 'Arirang', which will be released on March 20. The new album is said to capture the Korean sentiment of 'longing' and the team's identity.
BTS previously showcased an overwhelming performance at Gyeongbokgung's Geunjeongjeon and Gyeonghoeru in 2020, introducing the beauty of Korea to the world through NBC's 'The Tonight Show'. If this performance is realized, it is expected to create an unprecedented stage where tradition and modernity blend once again.
