Broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo has recently come under scrutiny again due to allegations of illegal medical procedures related to a scene from a past entertainment program where he received IV treatment while in a vehicle. Although his agency quickly issued a clarification, the controversy does not seem to be settling down easily.

As the fallout grew, with some cast members of MBC's "I Live Alone" stepping down due to allegations of illegal medical procedures, a screen capture of Jeon Hyun-moo receiving IV treatment in a car rapidly spread across online communities. This led netizens to question whether the act followed normal medical procedures.

As the controversy escalated, Jeon Hyun-moo's agency, SM C&C, issued an official statement on the 19th to clarify the situation. The agency revealed that the scene was from a broadcast in 2016, explaining that Jeon Hyun-moo had received treatment and prescriptions from a doctor due to a serious throat condition. They added that due to time constraints in the filming schedule, the treatment was completed while moving, as per the doctor's judgment, which was exposed in the broadcast.

Furthermore, the agency emphasized that there was no instance of personally calling a medical professional or receiving illegal treatment. They stated that all processes, except for the completion of the treatment, were conducted under the judgment of medical staff at the hospital, and that the current suspicions arose from a misunderstanding due to insufficient context being conveyed at the time.

However, despite this explanation, critical opinions have not subsided. The agency's statement that all actions, except for the completion of the treatment, were conducted at the hospital has instead fueled the controversy. This implies that Jeon Hyun-moo himself may have removed the needle and completed the treatment, or that the medication continued without medical personnel present.

Some are raising concerns about the administration of IV fluids in a location without medical staff and the subsequent disposal of medical waste. Some netizens are calling for concrete evidence, such as medical certificates or prescriptions, to clearly prove the treatment that took place at that time.

As the allegations of illegal medical practices spread throughout the entertainment industry, every past broadcast scene is being scrutinized under a strict lens, coinciding with the public's sensitive gaze.
