The Netflix original series 'Lady Dua', depicting the tense confrontation between a woman erasing herself at the boundary of falsehood and truth and the detective chasing her, has unveiled its secrets. Released in full on the 13th, this work guides viewers into a whirlwind of mysterious desires with a powerful opening.
The drama begins with the monologue of Sarah Kim (played by Shin Hye-sun), who captivates attention with her glamorous appearance. The line, "Truth blinds like light, but falsehood makes everything look beautiful like a sunset," is the core message that runs through the work. However, shortly after, a body of an unidentified person is discovered in a sewer on Cheongdam-dong's luxury street, revealing a shocking twist hidden behind Sarah Kim's glamorous life.
Detective Park Moo-kyung (played by Lee Joon-hyuk) from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's violent crime investigation unit tracks Sarah Kim's identity using a luxury bag found with the body as a clue. Sarah Kim's transformation from the Asia branch manager of the luxury brand 'Bodua' to an ordinary woman whose name is even unknown maximizes the mystery of the plot. Park Moo-kyung relentlessly digs into her false life, which peels away like an onion, confronting unexpected truths.
This work is a collaboration between director Kim Jin-min, known for Netflix hits 'Human Class' and 'My Name', and emerging writer Choo Song-yeon. Director Kim Jin-min stated, "This is a work that deeply captures human desires," and expressed that the way the protagonist hides and changes herself while forming relationships with others in each episode will provide fresh enjoyment.
In particular, the meeting of lead actors Shin Hye-sun and Lee Joon-hyuk has garnered intense interest even before airing. After reuniting for the first time in about 9 years since the drama 'Stranger' in 2017, the two meet as a suspect and a detective in this work, exuding opposite chemistry. According to on-site sources, the two actors demonstrated a deep trust and synergy that communicated without words.
Taking on her first OTT series after her debut, Shin Hye-sun delicately portrays the complex inner world of Sarah Kim, who denies reality and designs a fake life. Lee Joon-hyuk also perfectly embodies the role of Detective Park Moo-kyung, who chases the truth, based on the unique presence he showed in 'Stranger' and 'Crime City 3', anchoring the drama. Comprising a total of 8 episodes, 'Lady Dua' is currently available for viewing on Netflix.
