Blackpink's Rosé will be the first K-Pop solo artist to perform on the Grammy Awards stage. Rosé has been nominated in a total of three categories, including the main award, setting a new milestone in the history of Korean popular music.
The Recording Academy, which hosts the Grammys, announced on the 30th through its official website that Rosé has been selected as an official performer for the '68th Grammy Awards' to be held on February 1 in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena. While the group BTS has previously performed on the Grammy stage, Rosé will be the first K-Pop solo artist to hold a solo performance.
Rosé is set to conquer the Grammys with her collaboration song 'APT.' with global sensation Bruno Mars. Notably, she has made history by being nominated simultaneously for 'Song of the Year' and 'Record of the Year,' which are part of the Grammy's four major awards (General Field). Additionally, she is vying for a trophy in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' category, totaling three categories. This is the first time a K-Pop song has been nominated for a core Grammy award.
This awards ceremony is expected to reaffirm K-Pop's global status. In addition to Rosé, the OST 'Golden' from the Netflix animation 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is also nominated for Song of the Year, creating a friendly competition with Rosé. Furthermore, HYBE's global girl group Cat's Eye is set to perform alongside the rookie award nominees, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The ceremony will feature global pop stars including Rosé, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Sabrina Carpenter in the performer lineup. The eyes of music fans worldwide are focused on the first Grammy performance and potential award win for a K-Pop solo artist.
