Key, a member of the group SHINee, has belatedly announced his position regarding the so-called "ju-sai-mo" incident, which involves allegations of illegal medical procedures, and declared a suspension of his entertainment activities. This announcement comes after Key completed all scheduled overseas events, including a U.S. tour and fan signing events, intensifying the controversy.

His agency, SM Entertainment, explained in an official statement on the 17th that Key first became acquainted with a certain Mr. Lee, who is not a licensed physician, after visiting a hospital in Gangnam at the recommendation of an acquaintance. They further stated that Key was very surprised to learn through recent controversies surrounding medical licenses that Mr. Lee was not a doctor, and he is deeply reflecting on his ignorance.

Previously, Key had faced suspicions of having a close personal relationship with the individual involved in the ju-sai-mo controversy, which began with Park Na-rae. In particular, he faced criticism for attending a child's first birthday party, where illegal medical practices were conducted by Mr. Lee, despite him not being a medical professional. Unlike other celebrities who clarified their positions immediately after the controversy erupted, Key had remained silent until now.

During the height of the controversy, Key continued his normal activities by carrying out a local tour in the U.S. from the 3rd to the 15th. Even just five hours before his announcement, photos taken with a famous DJ were posted on his official account, indicating he was still engaging with fans. Ultimately, he only spoke out after completing all scheduled activities and revenue-generating projects.

In response, Key explained that he was confused by the new information he learned and apologized for not being able to clarify his position quickly. However, netizens have reacted with skepticism, suggesting that he intentionally delayed his announcement to complete his schedule.

As a result of this incident, Key will be stepping down from all programs, including MBC's "I Live Alone" and tvN's "Amazing Saturday," where he was a regular cast member. It remains to be seen whether Key, who is leaving a variety show after nine years, can overcome the criticism regarding his ignorance and response methods to stand before the public again.
