Comedian Park Na-rae's 'Injection Aunt', known as Ms. A, has been officially confirmed through an investigation by the Korean Medical Association to not hold a domestic medical license. This further intensifies the suspicion of her unlicensed medical practices.
According to a report by Channel A on the 8th, Kim Seong-geun, spokesperson for the Korean Medical Association, stated that the investigation of the association's internal database (DB), which includes all holders of domestic medical licenses, confirmed that Ms. A is not a holder of a domestic license.
Although Ms. A claims to have a background in overseas medical schools, if she performed medical practices without a domestic license, this would constitute a violation of the Medical Law, which could result in imprisonment of up to 5 years or a fine of up to 50 million won. The Medical Association plans to officially inquire with the Ministry of Health and Welfare regarding Ms. A's domestic license status based on the results of this investigation.
Former president Lim Hyun-taek, who previously served as the president of the Korean Medical Association, also revealed on social media that "even though Ms. A is not a doctor, performing medical practices such as injections on Park Na-rae constitutes violations of the Health Crime Control Act, Medical Law, Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, and fraud laws." He requested an investigation into the potential complicity of Ms. A's husband, Park Na-rae's manager, and Park Na-rae herself.
Earlier, on the 7th, Ms. A claimed on her personal account, "I studied hard while going back and forth to Inner Mongolia about 12-13 years ago and served as the youngest professor at the Inner Mongolia Peking Medical University Hospital, the first for both domestic and foreign nationals," adding, "As a center director, I worked hard to promote Korea through broadcast interviews and lectures." She expressed her frustration, targeting Park Na-rae's former manager, saying, "Do you know my life? What do you know about me to make me a gossip?"
However, the Association of Doctors Who Desire a Fair Society (Gongui-mo) issued a statement on the 7th, stating, "The Peking Medical University that Park Na-rae's 'Injection Aunt' claims to have attended is a ghost medical school," and refuted that the medical school in question does not exist.
As the controversy escalated, Ms. A switched all her SNS posts to private on the 8th, and no further clarifications have been made.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to monitor the investigation's progress, as a report has already been filed in the medical community, and will consider administrative investigations if necessary.
