Broadcaster Ham So-won and her ex-husband Jin-hwa hinted at the possibility of reconciliation after two years of divorce, but they faced the dual challenge of fierce opposition from the mother-in-law and past controversies.
The preview of the MBN entertainment program 'Sokpulishow Dongchimi' released on the 24th captured the noticeably changed atmosphere between the two. In the video, Jin-hwa took the lead in household chores, showing a changed attitude, while Ham So-won responded with natural physical affection, raising expectations for reconciliation. It was a 'romantic atmosphere' contrasting sharply with their previously cold demeanor after the divorce.
However, the wall of reality was high. The mother-in-law in China scolded Jin-hwa over the phone, saying, "Come back to China immediately," strongly discouraging reconciliation. In response, Ham So-won tearfully stated, "It will be difficult to reconcile without the permission of both parents," hinting that the restoration of their relationship would not be smooth.
The couple, who married in 2018, divorced by mutual agreement in 2022 after frequent conflicts. They recently began to interact again in Korea due to their daughter's education issues, but as the reconciliation issue has emerged, the past 'manipulation controversy' is also resurfacing.
In particular, the suspicion of 'wealth manipulation' has been re-highlighted as the large villa of the Chinese in-laws revealed during their appearance on TV Chosun's 'A Wife's Taste' in 2019 was found to be an Airbnb accommodation. This incident, which led to an apology from the production team and the cancellation of the program, still remains a negative perception among the public.
It remains to be seen whether the couple can succeed in reconciliation despite the mother-in-law's opposition and the continued harsh gaze of the public.
