Actress Kang Eun-bi confessed the heartbreaking reason for hesitating to register her marriage despite being pregnant, evoking sympathy from viewers.
On the 13th, Kang Eun-bi appeared on tvN's Kim Chang-ok Show 4 and shared the serious struggles she faced with negative comments due to the unlikable image formed during her past appearances on variety shows. She recalled a difficult time when her cute demeanor highlighted in her first variety show was perceived negatively by the public, leading to her name and insults trending together in real-time search results.
Kang Eun-bi confessed that because of this trauma, she was always cautious even around her husband, Byun Jun-pil, fearing that her true self might be seen as unlikable. The background for delaying the marriage registration was largely due to her feelings of guilt towards her husband. She mentioned that she was deeply hurt by some netizens who criticized her husband, saying he was pitiful for marrying someone labeled as a 'has-been' or 'washed-up' due to her acting history.
She revealed that she felt like registering their marriage would hold her husband back, so she had been defending herself by telling him since their dating days that he could run away anytime and that she could live alone. Even now, while pregnant, those feelings haven't completely disappeared, but she expressed gratitude for her husband, who has always been by her side, as it has helped her gradually overcome her struggles. In response, her husband Byun Jun-pil expressed his regret for not understanding his wife's true feelings until now.
Kang Eun-bi and Byun Jun-pil, who were classmates at Seoul Institute of the Arts, have been in a relationship for an impressive 17 years before finally tying the knot in April of last year. The couple announced their pregnancy in September of last year, just five months after their wedding, receiving many congratulations.
