The movie Avatar: Fire and Ash (hereafter Avatar 3) has maintained its position at the top without losing it even once since its release, continuing its overwhelming box office dominance.
According to the integrated computer network of movie ticket sales compiled by the Korean Film Council on the 27th, Avatar 3 attracted 271,863 viewers to theaters on the 26th alone, securing the number one spot at the box office. As a result, the cumulative audience number for Avatar 3, which has held the top position for 10 consecutive days since its release on the 17th, has reached 3,254,793.
Avatar 3 tells the story of Jake Sully and Neytiri's family, who are grieving the loss of their son Neteyam from the previous installment. A new force led by Barang, the tribe of ash, appears before the grieving family, depicting an even greater crisis and struggle on the planet Pandora, covered in fire and ash. Living up to the series' reputation, which set new records for foreign films released in Korea, this third installment is also receiving enthusiastic support from audiences.
Following Avatar 3, the second place at the box office is held by Disney's animated film Zootopia 2. Zootopia 2 attracted 108,312 viewers on the same day, continuing its long-term success. The cumulative audience number so far is 7,138,366, demonstrating a steady ability to draw audiences based on a solid fan base.
In third place is the romance film Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight, which attracted 46,119 viewers in one day, with a cumulative audience number of 228,188.
As Avatar 3 showcases overwhelming power at the end-of-year box office, attention is focused on how far its long-term box office record, which is expected to continue into early next year, can reach.
