Netflix cooking survival entertainment show Black and White Chef: Cooking Class War Season 2 premiered on the 16th at 5 PM, revealing episodes 1 to 3 and signaling the start of an intense cooking war. This season has captured viewers' attention with even stronger rules and a dazzling lineup.
In this broadcast, the first round of the black spoon determination battle featuring 80 black spoons was depicted, followed by the second round 1-on-1 black and white battle where the surviving black spoons face off against white spoon chefs. Only the number of black spoons that survive the determination battle can compete against the white spoons, earning the right to challenge them.
Notably, the newly introduced hidden white spoon rule in Season 2 has become a hot topic. Chef Choi Kang-rok and Chef Kim Do-yoon, who were the stars of Season 1, made a surprise appearance as hidden white spoons to compete alongside the black spoons. They must receive passing scores from judges Baek Jong-won and Ahn Seong-jae to gain white spoon status in the second round. As a result of the competition, only Choi Kang-rok succeeded in surviving, along with a total of 19 black spoons who secured their spots in the second round.
The subsequent second round was themed around 20 ingredients representing various regions of South Korea, featuring a 1-on-1 black and white battle. The protagonist of the first match was Chef Son Jong-won, who holds a Michelin 1-star in both Korean and Western cuisine. He chose the three-star killer among the challengers, including the three-star killer, Kalmakase, and the four-pyeong loner as his opponent.
In a blind judging featuring the main ingredient of Wonju Hanwoo beef tongue, Son Jong-won showcased overwhelming skill, securing the first spot in the third round among the white spoons. Before the match, Son Jong-won expressed strong confidence, stating that one creates their own star.
Following this, the tension escalated as the first master of temple food in South Korea, Monk Seon-jae, faced off against the black spoon's pork bone soup from New York, using Gapyung pine nuts as the ingredient. Black and White Chef 2 captures the fierce struggle of black spoon chefs, who are hidden masters, challenging the top star chefs of South Korea, the white spoons, aiming to overturn the hierarchy solely through taste.
