Netflix's new series 'Monthly Boyfriend' has unveiled its cast, and viewers' reactions to lead actor Jisoo's acting skills are mixed amidst the glamorous lineup.

On the 19th, Netflix released a promotional video for the romantic comedy 'Monthly Boyfriend', which is based on a virtual dating simulation. In this work, Jisoo plays the role of 'Mi-rae', a webtoon PD living a tough reality, who subscribes to and experiences various ideal types in a virtual world.
The released trailer was filled with visual delights. It featured Mi-rae entering the virtual world under the guidance of dating manager Yoo In-na, enjoying dates with a prince, first love senior, and top star. In particular, the glamorous special appearances by Seo Kang-joon, Lee Soo-hyuk, Lee Jae-wook, and Jay Park heightened fans' expectations. The intriguing chemistry with Seo In-guk, who plays 'Gyeong-nam' entangled as a workmate in the real world, is also a point of interest.
However, immediately after the video was released, a debate regarding lead actor Jisoo's acting tone has emerged, particularly focusing on the opening line, "Is a dating simulation service like a game?" where the delivery and emotional expression were somewhat awkward. Some netizens reacted by saying, "She has improved compared to her previous work 'Snowdrop'", while others offered a more critical assessment, stating, "Her pronunciation and diction still leave something to be desired, breaking immersion."
Director Kim Jung-sik stated that he focused on Jisoo's diverse charms. He shared that he adjusted the acting tone for each episode to match different settings and worked to distinguish between the real Mi-rae and the character in the virtual world.
Jisoo's third leading role, 'Monthly Boyfriend', has become a hot topic even before its release due to its unique premise and glamorous visuals. After unveiling, all eyes are on whether Jisoo can dispel early concerns about her acting skills and solidify her position as an actress.
