Jennie, a member of the group BLACKPINK, showcased her immense financial power by purchasing a building located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul for 20 billion won. Notably, this building is known to have previously served as the Embassy of Iraq in South Korea, drawing significant attention.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's real transaction disclosure system and the real estate industry on the 11th, Jennie purchased the land and building located in Dongbinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu on May 24 of last year for a total of 20 billion won. The transaction details indicate that the land was valued at approximately 19.8 billion won, while the building was valued at about 100 million won.
The transfer of ownership was completed on December 3 of last year, along with the payment of the balance. Notably, there is no mortgage registered on the real estate registration document. Typically, when purchasing a building using a bank loan, a mortgage is established, but in Jennie's case, this was not found, indicating that she paid the full 20 billion won in cash.
The building Jennie purchased is a basement and two-story structure with a land area of 595㎡ (approximately 180 pyeong), with a purchase price of about 110 million won per pyeong. This area is known for being home to numerous embassies, including those of Hungary and Libya, making it convenient for security and privacy. The previous Iraqi embassy has relocated to Hannam-dong, and the transfer of possession has now been completed.
This is not the first time Jennie has shown her 'cash flex'. In July 2023, she also attracted industry attention by purchasing a luxury villa unit in UN Village, Hannam-dong, called 'La Terrace Hannam' for 50 billion won in cash. Additionally, last year, she demonstrated her exceptional scale by leasing a newly built building in Hannam-dong for her personal label 'Odd Atelier', paying over 60 million won in monthly rent.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK, to which Jennie belongs, will make a grand return to the music scene with the release of their third mini-album 'DEADLINE' on the 27th. This album marks their first full group activity in about 3 years and 5 months since their second full album in 2022, garnering high expectations from fans worldwide.
