"Receiving Congratulations is Awkward"…Both Sides Address the Elaborate Video Manipulated by AI

Kim Seung-soo Park Se-ri Fake News Clarification

Actor Kim Seung-soo recently expressed his frustration regarding the rumors of his marriage to former golfer Park Se-ri, which have rapidly spread through online platforms such as YouTube, stating that they are completely unfounded.

On the 28th, Kim Seung-soo appeared on KBS Cool FM's 'Park Myung-soo's Radio Show' and directly mentioned the absurd rumors surrounding him. He said, "In the past, I was only misunderstood as a married man, but now fake news is forcing me into marriage," pointing out the seriousness of the baseless rumors. He particularly expressed his frustration by stating, "The recently circulated fake news video is produced very elaborately using AI technology, and even if we clarify, the public often believes it to be true."

The video that sparked the controversy began circulating last December and contains false information claiming that Kim Seung-soo and Park Se-ri are married. The video has shown significant impact, surpassing 8 million views. In response to DJ Park Myung-soo's concerns, Kim Seung-soo shared, "Even if I clarify that it’s not true, the reaction is often 'As long as they live well, it's fine,' which makes it even more awkward."

Park Se-ri, another party involved in the rumors, also expressed her displeasure through her SNS on the 27th. She stated, "It's absurd and bitter that it's a marriage rumor, not even a dating rumor," and promised, "If there is really good news, I will let you know directly, not through fake news."

Park Se-ri further criticized, "AI technology should not be used for such malicious purposes," and conveyed her apologies to Kim Seung-soo. She mentioned the confusion she experienced in real life, such as receiving congratulatory messages from neighbors and being inundated with inquiries from fans, urging them, "Please do not believe in fake news."

Recently, AI-based fake news targeting the entertainment industry has been rampant, causing serious mental harm to those involved. The case of Kim Seung-soo and Park Se-ri raises awareness about the indiscriminate spread of rumors and the consumption of information without fact-checking.
