
'Black and White Chef' Choi Gang-rok has garnered attention by revealing his past history and the behind-the-scenes story of his trademark hat through his YouTube channel.
On the 26th, a video titled 'I Am a Bbalttuin Person' was posted on the YouTube channel 'Jjanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup'. The video features Choi Gang-rok, Choi Yu-gang, and Yoon Na-ra, the main chefs of Netflix 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War' Season 2, showcasing their unique storytelling skills.
During the broadcast, Choi Gang-rok mentioned his characteristic cautious and slow speaking style, known as 'Human Gang-rok Style'. When Jeong Ho-cheol asked, "Are you speaking carefully because you are worried about broadcasting accidents?" Choi Gang-rok replied, "I think it's better to be careful with words," acknowledging it. When Shin Dong-yup imitated Choi Gang-rok's slow running form, making the scene burst into laughter, he seriously responded, "I did my best to run," which also drew laughter.
He candidly shared the reason for sticking to his trademark hat, which caught attention. Choi Gang-rok said, "One morning, I was startled to see my hair had turned white in the mirror," and added, "It was a hassle to style my hair every time I cooked, so I even tried shaving my head, but now the hat has become 'my own hideout'."
Additionally, Choi Gang-rok revealed an unexpected major and past dream, showcasing his 'unexpected specs'. He has a unique background of dropping out of Korea University of Foreign Studies, majoring in Spanish, and graduating from the prestigious Tsuji Culinary School in Japan.
He also disclosed that during his university days, he was a passionate fan of the late Shin Hae-chul and dreamed of participating in college song contests while being active in a band. However, he humorously mentioned that he cannot sing due to vocal cord nodules, even referring to a medical certificate to overcome a song request crisis.
