Shinji's agency, J Star, announced on the 26th, "Shinji will hold her wedding ceremony on May 2." Shinji also shared the joyful news with her fans first by posting a handwritten letter on her social media on the same day.
In the letter, Shinji expressed, "As I spent time with Moonwon, our bond has deepened and trust has built up," and explained the background of her decision to marry by saying, "I am grateful to have found a perfect partner, and we have decided to rely on each other and embark on life's second act together." She also made a promise, seemingly aware of her fans' concerns, stating, "We will move forward together with unwavering consistency."
The couple's movie-like love story began in June 2024. Moonwon appeared as a guest on MBC Standard FM's 'Lee Yoon-seok and Shinji's Single Bungle Show,' hosted by Shinji, which led to their connection. They later developed into a romantic relationship and made headlines last July by revealing their dating status with the premise of marriage.
There were also trials on the path to marriage. Shortly after a video of their meeting was released on a YouTube channel, some raised concerns about Moonwon's attitude and unverified past allegations. However, Moonwon chose to confront the situation head-on, apologizing for any shortcomings while strongly denying malicious rumors (bullying, military service allegations, etc.).
