Broadcaster Jo Se-ho recently stated through his agency that the allegations of his involvement with organized crime and acceptance of expensive gifts, which have spread online, are "completely false."
On the 4th, a representative from Jo Se-ho's agency A2Z Entertainment told News1, "We have assessed the situation regarding the allegations currently spreading on online communities and social media. Jo Se-ho and Mr. Choi are merely acquaintances, and the claim that he promoted a franchise run by organized crime and received expensive gifts is entirely untrue." The agency explained that they are preparing measures, including legal action, to protect the artist.
Previously, an Instagram account that receives tips about various illegal criminals posted, "Celebrity Jo Se-ho, reflect on your actions. Under the pretext of being acquaintances, you always receive expensive gifts while promoting a franchise run by organized crime and frequently socialize with Mr. Choi, a key figure in the largest violent organization in the Geochang area, drinking and receiving expensive gifts. Is this acceptable for a national comedian?"
The account also shared a photo of Jo Se-ho and Mr. Choi embracing at what appears to be a nightlife venue, claiming that Mr. Choi operates illegal gambling sites and is a criminal involved in money laundering. They further urged, "Please clarify this post. Gambling is a crime that sickens and destroys society."
As there was no response from Jo Se-ho's side, on the 1st of this month, the account posted another photo of Mr. Choi and Jo Se-ho, demanding clarification. When the post was deleted, on the 4th of this month, the same account's story stated, "The posts keep getting deleted. What should we do if you only delete posts without providing clarification, Jo Se-ho?" reiterating their demand for Jo Se-ho's stance.
Meanwhile, Jo Se-ho debuted as a comedian in 2001 as part of SBS's 6th public recruitment and is currently active in various popular programs, including tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' and KBS 2TV's '2 Days & 1 Night' alongside comedian Yoo Jae-suk.
