“I won’t evade responsibility for my wrongdoing” … Belated remorse and resolve in a handwritten letter
Song was indicted for leaving his post after failing to report to work for 102 days without a valid reason while serving at facilities in the Mapo-gu area beginning in March 2023. The court handed down a suspended sentence, taking into account his health and remorse, but there was no way around the strict demands of his military service obligation.
Ultimately, the 102 days he was absent were voided and remain time he must serve again. In a recent handwritten letter, Song said, “I will not evade my foolish past mistakes and will deeply reflect on them,” vowing to fulfill his remaining obligations.
The public will be watching to see whether he can regain its trust through genuine reflection as he serves the additional 102 days, after winning fans’ affection with his musical talent.
