Members Lee Ha-neul and Jung Jae-yong of the group DJ DOC are holding a year-end performance excluding Kim Chang-ryul, reigniting rumors of discord among the members.
Lee Ha-neul and Jung Jae-yong of DJ DOC will hold a year-end performance titled 'Young 40 Club Party' at Arabian Nights in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon on the 11th.
This performance will combine DJing and live stages that capture the emotions of Generation X to Generation MZ. In particular, it is generating great expectations among those who loved and enjoyed the music of that time with the slogan 'Our own party that preserves that feeling from back then.'
Additionally, super special guests such as Koyote, Mighty Mouth, and MC Prime will appear to recreate the club vibe of that time. The 'Young 40 Club Party' will last a total of 180 minutes and is currently available for reservation through Melon Ticket.
Meanwhile, the absence of Kim Chang-ryul in any of the performance posters and promotional materials raises questions. Given that Lee Ha-neul and Kim Chang-ryul showed signs of reconciliation last year, leading to increased expectations for a full group activity, the background of Kim Chang-ryul's absence from this performance is amplifying curiosity.
The conflict between the two began in earnest after the death of Lee Ha-neul's younger brother, the late Lee Hyun-bae, who was a member of 45RPM, in 2021. At that time, Lee Ha-neul claimed that Kim Chang-ryul did not fulfill his promised investment in a pension business in Jeju Island, which led to Lee Hyun-bae experiencing financial difficulties and ultimately dying from the aftereffects of a traffic accident while working as a delivery person.
In December 2023, Lee Ha-neul appeared on a YouTube channel and sent a signal of reconciliation, saying, "As time passed, I hated him like I would kill him and thought of him as an enemy, but I felt that rather than never seeing each other again, we should meet and talk." The following year, a photo of the three DJ DOC members together was released, drawing attention.
However, Lee Ha-neul revealed on his YouTube channel last year that the reason he released an album as a solo artist rather than as DJ DOC was, "We don't get along. It's not that we don't get along, but we haven't resolved things yet. We don't match. The situation for reconciliation isn't right. I guess we think differently about some things," suggesting that a complete reconciliation has not been achieved.
In this context, the year-end performance conducted only by Lee Ha-neul and Jung Jae-yong is dousing fans' expectations for the resumption of DJ DOC's full group activities and reigniting discord rumors once again.
