The group Stray Kids has solidified its status as a global 'history maker' by setting new records in K-pop throughout the year 2025. They achieved the remarkable feat of reaching No. 1 for 8 consecutive weeks on the main U.S. Billboard chart, 'Billboard 200', and made their mark on the 'Hot 100' chart with their new song 'Do It'.
According to the official announcement from Billboard's website on December 2 (local time), Stray Kids ranked in a total of 11 categories, including the main charts 'Billboard 200' and 'Hot 100', with their SKZ IT TAPE 'DO IT' and double title tracks 'Do It' and 'Fresh Play', released on November 21.
The new album sold approximately 295,000 copies in its first week in the U.S., topping the main album chart 'Billboard 200'. Stray Kids became the first artist in the 70-year history of Billboard 200 to have 7 consecutive works debut at No. 1 after entering the chart with their previous album, the 4th studio album 'KARMA', released in August. With this new album just three months later, they once again stand at the highest point, continuing their 'world's first' record.
With this achievement, Stray Kids, holding a total of 8 No. 1 works on 'Billboard 200', has become the group with the third most No. 1 works on this chart worldwide, following The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. This ties them with U2.
Additionally, one of the double title tracks, 'Do It', debuted at No. 68 on the 'Hot 100' chart, which is considered an indicator of popularity in the U.S. music market. This marks Stray Kids' fifth entry on the 'Hot 100'. They also topped the 'Artist 100', 'Top Album Sales', 'Top Current Album Sales', 'World Albums', and 'World Digital Song Sales', ranking in a total of 11 categories.
The previous album, the 4th studio album 'KARMA', also achieved a remarkable feat by ranking 35th on the 'Billboard 200' chart, successfully charting for 14 consecutive weeks, marking an unprecedented achievement of having two albums on the chart simultaneously. Furthermore, the physical and digital albums of 'KARMA' and 'DO IT' recorded sales of approximately 296,000 and 286,000 copies respectively, ranking 3rd and 4th in pure album sales in the U.S. for 2025, drawing attention as the best performance by a K-pop artist this year.
Stray Kids expressed through their agency JYP Entertainment, "It’s really hard to believe. I think 2025 will be a year to remember for a long time. The journey of a world tour around the globe with our fans, STAY, the 7 consecutive and 8 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on 'Billboard 200', and winning awards at music award ceremonies are achievements that would not have been possible without STAY, and they still feel like a dream."
They added, "We sincerely thank STAY for always supporting our choices and being our compass. We will continue to walk our own path as Stray Kids."
