Song Seung-il, a cast member of the dating reality program 'Solo Hell 5,' directly addressed the so-called 'cutoff breakup' controversy involving Kim Min-ji that surfaced after the broadcast.
On the YouTube channel 'Jipdaeseong,' which was released on the 20th, the main stars of 'Transit Love 4' and 'Solo Hell 5' appeared as guests and, without holding back, shared behind-the-scenes stories from filming that had not been revealed until now. That day’s video featured Hong Ji-yeon and Jo Yoo-sik from 'Transit Love 4,' as well as Kim Go-eun and Song Seung-il from 'Solo Hell 5,' and they had candid conversations.
Song Seung-il carefully mentioned the controversy that, after becoming the final couple with Kim Min-ji on 'Solo Hell 5,' he had unilaterally cut off contact. He confessed that the psychological burden he felt during the process of returning to real life after filming ended was very heavy, saying he didn’t want to make the atmosphere tense.
He went on to say that, at the time, he believed conveying his position in his own way was a polite way to wrap things up. However, after some time had passed and he looked back, he realized that, from Kim Min-ji’s perspective, it may have felt like an abrupt cutoff. He admitted, openly, that his response had been immature.
He also said he reached out to Kim Min-ji to sincerely apologize for the parts that were lacking at the time, adding that they have now cleared up all misunderstandings and are maintaining a smooth relationship, effectively dismissing the controversy.
Earlier, the two were matched as the final couple on 'Solo Hell 5,' receiving big support from viewers. However, in the later released reunion special, Kim Min-ji made remarks implying that her relationship became awkward because she had been cut off from the other person, which sparked curiosity about how the breakup unfolded and led to controversy. Through Song Seung-il’s clarification this time, the misunderstandings from then have been officially resolved, easing fans’ questions.
