Through SBS Plus and ENA's variety program 'I Am Solo' episode 28 special for divorced singles, Young-chul and Young-ja revealed their tumultuous romantic history and the journey towards becoming an official couple.
In an appearance on tvN STORY's 'Lee Ho-seon Counseling Center' that aired on the 17th, the two candidly shared the intense conflicts and reconciliation they experienced early in their relationship. In particular, Young-chul recalled the time he learned about Young-ja's pregnancy, revealing that despite his joy, he inadvertently caused a breakup crisis by trying not to put pressure on her.
At that time, Young-ja confessed that after checking the pregnancy test, she wanted to have the baby but felt anxious due to Young-chul's ambiguous attitude. Fearing that she might have to handle parenting alone, she ultimately decided to break up first. However, Young-chul shed tears and reassured her, allowing the two to dramatically reconcile.
Their crisis did not only stem from internal conflicts. The external scrutiny and rumors that poured in after the broadcast also tormented them. Young-chul stated that Young-ja experienced mental distress due to infidelity rumors, and frequent disputes arose over trust issues, including reviewing divorce adjustment documents with his ex-wife. Young-ja recalled the intense struggle she faced to gain confidence in her husband amidst the public pressure, with tears in her eyes.
They also shared the heartbreaking trials they faced before their wedding. Young-ja revealed that she became pregnant around Chuseok last year but suffered severe mental and physical pain after being diagnosed with a missed miscarriage, which elicited sympathy from viewers.
After overcoming numerous adversities, the couple officially tied the knot on January 17. Young-ja expressed gratitude to everyone who blessed them and vowed to build a happy family that will steadfastly support each other through any trials.
