"Celebrities are not completely innocent even if they are legally not guilty."
Singer and actor Kim Hyun-joong, a former member of the group SS501, candidly shared his feelings about the legal battle with his former partner that had bound him for the past 10 years. On the 27th, he appeared on the YouTube channel 'B-Class Studio' and openly discussed his emotional struggles during that time.
Kim Hyun-joong explained regarding the assault allegations with his ex-girlfriend, Ms. A, saying, "At that time, just pushing a woman was considered assault, so I paid a fine of 5 million won." He recalled, "I thought the case would be resolved with a fine, but I never expected the situation to escalate uncontrollably afterward." However, he showed a calm attitude, stating that he does not care much about the incident now.
In particular, despite receiving a not guilty verdict after a long legal battle, Kim Hyun-joong could not hide his bitterness. He confessed, "After a long time, my innocence was revealed, but when I received the result, I felt that I had neither gained nor lost anything," and added, "I realized that due to the nature of being a celebrity, legal innocence is not fully accepted as innocence by the public," evoking sympathy.
The unfortunate relationship between Kim Hyun-joong and his ex-partner Ms. A began in 2014. Ms. A claimed damages worth 1.6 billion won due to miscarriage and pregnancy from the assault, which caused a social uproar, including a controversy over paternity. However, in 2020, the Supreme Court ruled that Ms. A's claims were false and ordered her to pay 100 million won for defaming Kim Hyun-joong, thus siding with him.
Meanwhile, having passed through a long tunnel, Kim Hyun-joong has built a new life, overcoming past wounds. He married a woman of the same age, who was his first love, in 2022, and is currently living a peaceful family life with a son.
