Comedian Park Na-rae has apologized for various allegations surrounding her, including 'manager abuse', and has officially announced a suspension of her activities. However, she remains silent on other allegations, including illegal medical practices, which have become the core of the controversy, and she has been stepping down from major entertainment programs she was appearing on, causing the situation to escalate.
Park Na-rae initially announced a second official statement on the 7th but revealed her position through her personal social media on the 8th, a day late. She stated, "In early November, the two managers I had been close with suddenly resigned, and until recently, I had not been given the opportunity to talk to the parties involved, leading to misunderstandings between us."
She continued, "With everyone's help, I was finally able to meet with my former manager yesterday, and while we were able to resolve the misunderstandings and distrust between us, I still believe that everything is my fault and I am deeply reflecting on it," expressing her position only regarding the manager controversy and bowing her head.
Park Na-rae stated, "As a comedian whose job is to bring laughter and joy, I have decided to suspend my broadcasting activities until everything is resolved cleanly, as I cannot cause any more trouble to the programs and my colleagues," effectively declaring a period of self-reflection and concluding her statement. In this 14-line statement, aside from mentions related to the manager, there was no mention of other allegations such as illegal medical practices, proxy prescriptions, or unregistered one-person agencies.
While Park Na-rae remains silent on allegations other than the manager controversy, the suspicion of illegal medical practices is intensifying. Park Na-rae has been embroiled in allegations that she received injections from a so-called 'Injection Aunt' A, who does not have a medical license, at an officetel in Ilsan, Goyang City, and at overseas filming locations, and received antidepressants.
In response, Park Na-rae's agency, Anpark, clarified on December 6th, stating, "I received nutritional IV injections from someone with a medical license," asserting that it was merely a house call and that there were no illegal medical practices. However, the Korean Medical Association officially confirmed on December 8th that A does not hold a domestic medical license, stating, "This act is a clear 'illegal unlicensed medical practice' in violation of Article 27 of the Medical Law."
Previously, A claimed through her social media that she "studied in Inner Mongolia 12-13 years ago and served as the youngest professor at the Inner Mongolia Baotou Medical College Hospital," but after the controversy arose, she deleted all related posts and made her account private. The Korean Medical Association urged the investigative authorities, stating, "Thorough investigations and punishments should be carried out not only for the parties confirmed to have engaged in illegal activities but also for the suppliers involved in the distribution." Former President Lim Hyun-taek of the Korean Medical Association has also reported the 'Injection Aunt' who performed medical acts on Park Na-rae to the prosecutors for violations of the Medical Law.
Following Park Na-rae's announcement of her suspension of activities, the major entertainment programs she was appearing on have officially confirmed her departure. The production team of MBC's 'I Live Alone' (Na Honja Sanda) stated, "Considering the seriousness of the matter and Park Na-rae's intention to suspend her activities, the production team has decided to stop her appearance on 'I Live Alone.'" The production team of tvN's 'Amazing Saturday' also officially stated, "We respect Park Na-rae's intention to suspend her broadcasting activities. She will not participate in the recordings going forward."
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae has been subjected to a lawsuit claiming damages of 100 million won for workplace harassment, special injury, and unpaid expenses from her former managers, as well as applications for real estate provisional seizure, and she has found herself at the center of complex controversies including allegations of unregistered one-person agencies and illegal medical practices.
