The head of More Vision and artist Jay Park has launched his first boy group Longshot (LNGSHOT), making a bold debut in the music industry.
Longshot held a media showcase on the 13th at Myunghwa Live Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their first mini album Shot Callers. The four-member boy group Longshot, consisting of O-yul, Ryu, Woo-jin, and Louis, is a team with distinct personalities and skills under the leadership of Jay Park.
The group name Longshot signifies a decisive shot that can turn the tables, even with low odds. Member Woo-jin mentioned that the name was given by CEO Jay Park, and although it felt unfamiliar at first, he has grown attached to it, believing that there is no better word to express their team's identity as they continue their activities.
The title track Moonwalkin' is a song that blends the dreamy sound with the dreams and self-confidence of youth, likening it to a moonwalk. Woo-jin shared that it became a group song that marks the start of the team at the suggestion of CEO Jay Park while he was preparing it as a solo track during his trainee days, conveying its special significance. The album includes five tracks of various genres, such as hip-hop, pop, and dance, with the members actively participating in the production.
On this day, producer Jay Park attended the showcase and expressed strong confidence in the team. He stated that this group is something he has poured all his bones and soul into, and as an 18-year veteran singer, he took on the challenging task of producing an idol group to find new value and meaning. He explained that he wanted to create friends that he enjoys listening to and thinks are cool.
Jay Park also added affectionate evaluations for each member. He praised O-yul for his earnestness, Ryu as a weighty rapper discovered on Show Me the Money, Woo-jin for his high musical understanding, and the youngest Louis for his innate vocal color, highlighting each of their charms.
Longshot gained practical experience by performing at university festivals and the Melon Music Awards (MMA) even before their official debut. Ryu mentioned that thanks to the big stage experience, he gained confidence in live performances. O-yul stated that while they are currently known as Jay Park's kids, their goal is to be recognized by the name Longshot itself, expressing his determination to keep shooting and scoring.
Naming the rookie award as their goal for this year, Longshot expressed their ambitious resolve to become a brand representing the world. Their debut album Shot Callers is available on major music streaming sites.
