Actor Lee Je-hoon has become the protagonist of the 2025 SBS Acting Awards through 'Taxi Driver 3'. As the award candidates began winning other awards midway through the ceremony, it became clear that Lee Je-hoon's win was certain, leaving a sense of disappointment with the ongoing trend of shared awards this year as well.
The 2025 SBS Acting Awards, held on the 31st at the SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, was grandly opened by broadcaster Shin Dong-yeop and actors Chae Won-bin and Heo Nam-jun. The glory of the grand prize, which had drawn attention with its strong candidates even before the ceremony, went as expected to Lee Je-hoon, who successfully led the 'Taxi Driver' series.
Upon taking the stage, Lee Je-hoon expressed his gratitude to the audience who watched until late, sharing that his mind went blank. He credited the series' success through three seasons to the love of the viewers who supported it, thanking the writers, directors, and staff. He also expressed heartfelt thanks, choking up as he mentioned that there were many lonely and difficult moments while playing the character Kim Do-gi, but he was able to endure thanks to the support of the Rainbow Transport family and fans.
This award ceremony showed a somewhat diminished tension even before the announcement of the grand prize, as candidates Han Ji-min, Park Hyung-sik, and Go Hyun-jung won the Best Actor awards, and Yoon Kyung-sang received the Director's Award. In particular, SBS subdivided the mini-series category into four genres: action, romantic comedy, melodrama, and human/fantasy, leading to an oversaturation of award recipients this year as well. With eight Best Actor awards and nine Excellent Actor awards, including supporting and rookie awards, it became difficult to avoid criticism for lowering the authority of the awards by handing out trophies to dozens of recipients.
There were also scenes that captured the viewers' attention. The Best Couple Award winners, Ahn Eun-jin and Jang Ki-yong, surprised the audience with a kiss performance on stage, eliciting cheers. Ahn Eun-jin expressed her gratitude to her co-star Jang Ki-yong, saying it was the award she desired the most, and Jang Ki-yong responded with a warm remark.
Although SBS dramas presented various hot topics throughout 2025, the ongoing issue of excessive shared awards and the segmented award presentation method have been evaluated as diminishing the festival's significance. Nevertheless, Lee Je-hoon's grand prize win, showcasing the strength of the series, drew unanimous applause from the public.
