Comedian-turned-broadcaster Jung Hyung-don confessed to experiencing severe sleep disorders after abruptly stopping psychiatric medication in the past.
On the 19th, during the Channel A entertainment program "Yojeum Yuga - Precious My Baby," solutions were discussed regarding cases of sleep disorders caused by gaming addiction. On that day, Jung Hyung-don candidly shared his past experience with insomnia, raising awareness.
Jung Hyung-don revealed that he had once stopped taking psychiatric medication without consulting his doctor. He explained that after stopping the medication, he fell into a state where he could hardly sleep for about three to four days.
In particular, he suggested that as the lack of sleep reached its peak, his cognitive functions were impaired to the point where daily life became impossible. Jung Hyung-don recalled that he couldn't remember things accurately due to the lack of sleep, and while walking, he couldn't even discern where he was, losing his sense of reality. Ultimately, he added that he felt the seriousness of his condition and began taking the medication again.
When asked about his condition after resuming medication, Jung Hyung-don replied that he fell into such a deep sleep that he wondered if it was okay to sleep like that, emphasizing the importance of sleep.
In response, Dr. Oh Eun-young warned that a lack of sleep can significantly diminish one's sense of reality, and in severe cases, hallucinations may occur. She also stated that while a day or two of sleep deprivation can happen, if such a state repeats daily, it can be extremely detrimental to health, stressing the importance of sufficient sleep.
On that day, Jung Hyung-don's confession reminded viewers of how crucial it is to consult with professionals regarding psychiatric treatment and medication, drawing significant attention.
