Actors Park Hyung-sik and Park Kyu-young have been cast as the leads in Netflix’s original series “Just Like They Mean It,” where they will bring a fresh take on romance. The two play an office romance with a distinct twist: after their earlier military senior-subordinate relationship, they reunite with their roles completely flipped—one as the company CEO and the other as a brand-new hire.
On the 6th, Netflix confirmed the production of “Just Like They Mean It” and released details on the main cast. The series centers on a shift in power dynamics: Woo Ami, the military senior who once trained Jeong-seok Na harshly, returns as a new employee, throwing the workplace dynamic into chaos in front of Na Jeong-seok, the picture-perfect CEO of a camping and outdoor brand.
Park Hyung-sik takes on the role of Na Jeong-seok, who transforms from a shy junior who couldn’t seem to adapt during his time in the military into a self-made powerhouse CEO. Best known for his romantic-comedy presence in hits like “Strong Woman Do Bong-soon” and “Doctor Slump,” Park Hyung-sik is expected to bring an irresistibly charming side to the character in a fun, engaging way.
Park Kyu-young plays Woo Ami, a new employee who begins a new career in civilian life after being discharged. Previously, she was a special forces ace senior nicknamed “The Snake.” After establishing herself as a top-tier actor through “Sweet Home” and “Celebrity,” Park Kyu-young will heighten the show’s appeal by portraying both the tough version of herself from the past and the bright, wide-eyed energy of someone just starting out in the real world.
Directing will be led by Nam Seong-woo, who has demonstrated storytelling chops in works like “Mindless Lies” and in “Living Together” style dramas, where every emotion goes straight to your heart. The screenplay will be handled by Kim Hana, the writer of “My Heart Is Beating,” raising expectations even higher.
With their connection from their military days continuing even after their positions are turned upside down, “Just Like They Mean It,” capturing the strange tension and excitement that follows, will be released exclusively on Netflix worldwide.
