Netflix's original variety show 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War 2' (hereafter 'Black and White Chef 2') is raising expectations by revealing the lineup of 100 black and white chefs, which is the core of the program.
On the 3rd, the 'Black and White Chef 2' team announced a total of 100 chefs, including 80 'black spoon' chefs who aim to overturn the existing hierarchy solely through taste, 18 of Korea's top star chefs known as 'white spoons' who seek to maintain it, and 2 hidden 'white spoon' chefs shrouded in mystery. 'Black and White Chef 2' is a survival variety show that captures the fiery culinary class war they will unfold.
The video featuring the 100 black chefs released through Netflix Korea's official account showcases the impressive profiles of the white chefs. Leading the charge is Chef Lee Jun, a pioneer of Korean fine dining and a Michelin 2-star chef, followed by Chef Son Jong-won, who has earned Michelin 1 stars in both Korean and Western cuisine, the first master of temple food in Korea, Monk Seon-jae, Chinese culinary master Hu Deok-juk with 57 years of experience, and French culinary master Park Hyo-nam with 47 years of experience.
In addition, star chefs such as Korea's representative Japanese cuisine star chef Jeong Ho-young, Italian star chef Sam Kim who communicates with the world through food, Raymond Kim who adds Korean elements to Western cuisine, 'Master Chef Korea Season 4' judge Song Hoon, and 'Korean Food Battle Season 3' winner Lim Seong-geun will all participate.
Moreover, chefs with outstanding auras such as Michelin 1-star chef Kim Hee-eun, former presidential chef Cheon Sang-hyun, Michelin 1-star chef Choi Yu-gang who showcases the pinnacle of Chinese and Japanese cuisine, 'Master Chef Sweden' winner Jenny Walden, New York Michelin 1-star chef Shim Seong-cheol, Korea's first female executive chef of a 5-star hotel Lee Geum-hee, local food dining leader Kim Seong-woon, and Michelin 1-star chef Kim Geon who pours his heart into food will join, overwhelming the audience's attention.
Additionally, there is intense interest in the two hidden white spoon chefs whose faces are concealed, as well as the 80 black chefs who challenge the white chefs solely through taste. The activities of the black chefs, who have strong keywords such as 'Prince of Seochon', 'Culinary Monster', 'Three-Star Killer', and 'Barbecue Research Institute Head', are highly anticipated. The emergence of black chefs who have achieved excellence in various genres, such as 'Pyeongyang Shinseong', 'Line-Up Tonkatsu', 'Tteokbokki Master', 'Suta King', and '5-Star Kimchi Master', indicates that both white and black chefs will be stronger than in Season 1, promising an even fiercer culinary class war ahead.
Producers Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji stated, "We are grateful that many chefs have empathized with the purpose of 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War' and decided to participate," adding, "We have worked hard to create a platform where chefs who do not shy away from challenges can fully enjoy themselves."
'Black and White Chef 2' will meet viewers worldwide exclusively on Netflix on the 16th.
