
Veteran actress Kim Ji-mi, who led the renaissance of the Korean film industry, has passed away. She was 85 years old.
The Korean Film Council and the Korean Actors Association confirmed the news of Kim Ji-mi's passing on the 10th and announced that they are currently working with the bereaved family to prepare for a film industry funeral.
The late Kim Ji-mi debuted in 1957 and was a leading figure in the golden age of Korean cinema from the 1960s to the 1970s. She was praised as the 'Elizabeth Taylor of the East' for her outstanding beauty and exceptional acting skills.
It is reported that Kim Ji-mi passed away after her health rapidly declined following a battle with shingles in the United States.
